Funeral Services for Joan Dumas Woodard will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019, 1:00PM,
Salem Baptist Church, 1349 U.S. Hwy 80, Culloden, Georgia. Burial and repast will be held at the church.
On April 8th 1953 ,in Valdosta Georgia, God sent a gift from heaven into Earth named Joan, born to Fraser and Mary Louise Thomas Dumas.
Joan was the second child out of five children. She was a product of the public schools of the Valdosta School System. Joan graduate in 1971 from Pineville High School.
God blessed her with a beautiful baby boy, named Kevin Devale Dumas. As a single mother she raised Kevin to become a fine young gentleman. Kevin, after graduating from high school, became a Master Sergeant in the United States Army. While living in Valdosta Joanne worked for Owens Illinois Company for several years, also with Cabs and later acquired her own transportation business with contracts from the railroad.
After moving to Butler Georgia she married Willie Joe Woodard, on January 21, 1994, they joined the Hopewell Baptist Church. They were active members on the Usher Board. They later moved to Thomaston, Georgia. Joan worked for the Thomaston Mill for several years after relocating to Thomaston. God in his infinite wisdom called our beloved, Joan home to glory on January 15, 2019 at the Upson Regional Hopsital.
She was preceded in death by her parents Fraser and Mary Louise Dumas, her son, Kevin Dumas, and brothers, James Graham and Dennis Patterson Evans, mother in-law, Gladys Woodard, sisters in-law, Mattie Clyde Mathews, and Amanda Willis; brothers in-law, Jimmy Lee Willis, Albert Joe Willis, Albert Lee Woodard, and Freddie Lee Woodard.
While Joan’s passing has filled our hearts with much grief because death leaves a heart break that no one can heal but love leaves memories no one can steal, her faith in Jesus Christ has secured her an eternal Heavenly reservation. She is now resting in the bosom of Eternity with our Holy and Righteous GOD.
Joan Dumas Woodard will be fondly remembered and her legacy will be continued by many. She leaves to forever cherish her memories, a devoted husband of 24 years, Willie Joe Woodard of Thomaston, Georgia; two grandchildren; Kayla Dumas and Kevin Deval Dumas, Jr., one great-grandson, Corey Montford; two sisters; M. Lois (Paul) Thomas of Atlanta, Georgia, Lori Ann (Danny) Dubose of Valdosta, Georgia; eight sisters in-law, Ella Ma Troutman, Thomaston, Georgia, Gloria(Willie) Russell and Alice Joiner of Butler, Georgia, Gladys(Phillip) Bakon, Lizzie Lee Thomas, Peggy(Frankie)Howard all of Roberta, Georgia, Rosa Mae Willis and Cindy Willis of Detroit, Michigan; three brothers in-law, John Willis and Adolphus(Mary) Willis of Roberta, Georgia, and Arthur(Janice) Willis, of Detroit, Michigan; a very dear sister/friend, Mary S. Breeden, and a host of nieces and nephews.
