Walter J. Green was born on July 20, 1958 in Reynolds, Georgia to the late Ethel Mae Colbert and the late William Walter Green. Walter attended D.F. Douglas High School in Macon County and enlisted in the United States Army after graduation in 1975. Walter accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age.
He served his country for eight years as a telecommunications Specialist. His military service took him to places such as Germany. Kora, and Texas. Walter achieved the rank of Specialist (E4) prior to his end of service in 1983.
During his time in the military, he met the “apple of his eye”, Berenadine. Walter often said of meeting her, loud enough for everyone to hear, “Got to be more careful”. He instantly fell in love and knew she would be his wife. They joined in holy matrimony February 1982 and their journey began until he was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at the Southern Regional Medical Center.
Preceding him in death was his parents, Ethel Mae and William Green, Sr.; two brothers, Samuel Green Sr. and Larry Green; one sister, Patricia Green; grandmother, who reared him as her own, Lucille Carson.
Walter’s loving and humorous memories will live on in the hearts and mind of his family.
